Umarex S&W M&P 9L Blowback CO2 Airsoft Pistol Table Top Review

Type: Airsoft pistol.
Distributer: Umarex.
Model: Smith & Wesson M&P 9L.
Materials: Metal and polymer build.
Weight: 1.7 pounds (757 grams).
Barrel: 4.75 inches (121mm), non-rifled.
Total Length: 8.5 inches (215mm).
Propulsion: CO2 x1.
Action: Semi auto blowback, single action only
Ammunition Type: 6mm plastic Airsoft BB's.
Ammunition Capacity: 15 rounds.
FPS: 410 Claimed.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex S&W M&P 9L Blowback CO2 Airsoft Pistol is fairly light weight being a single action only trigger. There is about a quarter inch of take up with an easy release that is not hitchy at all. You will need to rack the slide to load your first Airsoft BB into the breach and engage the action but on the first shot but then the blowback action does this for you until the Airsoft Pistol is out of ammo and the slide locks back.

Accuracy: I have not performed my Field Test Shooting Video for the Umarex S&W M&P 9L Blowback CO2 Airsoft Pistol so stay posted for that video coming out in the next couple of weeks. Umarex has claimed a velocity of around 410 FPS using .20 gram Airsoft BB’s but that does seem a bit quick, well will have to see when I place some shots though my Chronograph! In terms of accuracy I expect it to shoot about the same as most Full Blowback Airsoft Pistols which generally produces a 1.5 to 2 inch 10 shot grouping from 30 feet out using a semi rested shooting position. Again we will find out when I perform my Field Test Shooting Video for the Umarex S&W M&P 9L Blowback CO2 Airsoft Pistol.

Build Quality: The Umarex S&W M&P 9L Blowback CO2 Airsoft Pistol build quality is fairly decent, fit and finish looks good with not too much slide wiggle and the materials used are both metal and plastic or polymer that look to be good quality. I do expect some of the black finishes ot come off on the high spots as these guns are generally electroplated and not too thick with it but this can actually make the gun look more realistic with that slightly worn in look to it.

Realism: The Umarex S&W M&P 9L Blowback CO2 Airsoft Pistol in terms of looking like the real steel version of its counterpart is very close for sure, it would be hard to tell without really taking a close look t it. Everything about this Replica Pistol works for the most part like the real steel version including most of the mechanical parts like the slide catch release, magazine release, take down lever, trigger safety and you can even fully field strip it which gives you easy access to the hopup on the barrel. Of course the full blowback action really seals the deal in terms of making this gun shoot like a real semi auto pistol.

Pros:

  • Very accurate replica of the S&W M&P 9L.

  • Fairly accurate weight and feel to it.

  • Metal and plastic parts where you find them on the real steel version, fit and finish is good.

  • Working trigger safety and ambidextrous working slide catch release.

  • Full size dropout metal magazine that holds Airsoft BB's and CO2.

  • Warning instructions are discreet under the trigger guard.

  • Recessed barrel and hidden CO2 screw for more realistic look

  • Fully Smith & Wesson licensed via Umarex.

  • Rail for add on accessories.

  • White dot sights for easy target acquisition.

  • Comes with three sizes of interchangeable grips S/M/L.

  • Adjustable hopup so you can at least adjust elevation at range.

  • Comes in a box rather than a clamshell.

Cons:

  • Has an orange tip but could be painted black or silver to match.

  • Sight are not adjustable.

  • 15 round magazine has less capacity than some other blowback Airsoft Pistols.

Comments:
The Umarex S&W M&P 9L Blowback CO2 Airsoft Pistol is a nice addition to the Smith & Wesson M&P line of Replica Airguns. I’m glad they made it in full blowback but being Airsoft based that is generally the way they lean towards. Hopefully we get to see 4.5mm Steel BB version too in the future! For now we have it in Airsoft and with the longer barrel perhaps it will shoot a bit hotter than most of the other CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistols, maybe even 410fps like Umarex claims but I will be surprised if it does. I will be happy to see something in the high 300’s to be honest. No matter what, you now have yet another Smith & Wesson option to consider when looking for your ultimate Replica Airgun!

Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun Field Test Review

In this Field test Shooting Video I Test out the Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun in the Replica Airguns Indoor Airgun Shooting Range to find out what kind of velocity we can achieve using standard lead pellets. I also shoot 6 rods on a paper target setup 30 feet down range to see what kind of grouping I can get with this single shot spring piston Airgun. If you are looking for more details and specification along wit some closer up video then make sure to watch my Table Top Review Video for the Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun.

Starting with my velocity test, I shot 3 rounds through my Chronograph using .177 caliber 7 grain lead pellets achieving 482, 489 and 466 fps with an average of 479 for the three shots. Not bad for a fairly compact Break Barrel Airgun. This is perhaps fast enough for small game like mice and small rats but you would need to get proficient on your shot accuracy to make sure you got a good head or lung shot to make it a more humane pest control.

For the accuracy portion of this Field test Shooting Review I proceeded to fire 6 rounds into a paper target setup 30 feet away. I use a semi rested shooting position with the Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun resting on a sand bag up front and me sitting on a stool for stability. My 6 shot grouping was all within around 1.5 inches but I feel like this Pellet gun can do better with me getting a bit more use ot it, still not bad out of the box and with my first round shooting it.

I really like the Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun as not only a Replica but it also shoed itself ot be a decent target Airgun at the end of the day. I do have to say the trigger is a bit long but not heavy at all, it has a smooth pull with a soft release. Most pimple should be able towel with this just fine. SO if you are looking for a Replica but also want an Airgun that can shoot hard and with decent accuracy then look no further than the Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun.

Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun Table Top Review

Type: Pellet Rifle.
Manufacturer: Umarex
Model: HK MP7 .177.
Materials: Metal and Polymer.
Weight: 4.4 pounds (2kg).
Barrel: 11.7 inches (29.7cm).
Total Length: 31 inches (78.7cm).
Propulsion: Break Barrel Spring Piston.
Action: Single Action Single Shot.
Ammunition Type: .177 Caliber Pellets.
Ammunition Capacity: 1.
Max FPS: 490 Claimed.

Trigger Pull: The trigger on the Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun is single action only requiring you to break the barrel and compress the internal spring piston before you can shoot it. The actual trigger pull is pretty decent overall. There is very little take-up but the creep is on the longer side but fairly smooth requiring medium pressure. The release is a bit hard at first to predict but nothing some trigger time can’t get you use to.

Accuracy: I have not performed any shooting tests with the Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun so far. I hope to make that Video Review next week. I expect the Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun to perform well in the accuracy department especially with the included Red Dot Optical Scope installed. I hope the velocity rating from Umarex is based on lead pellets and not hyper velocity light weight pellets but we will find out the story when I perform my Field Test Shooting Video shortly!

Build Quality: The Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun is a China made Airgun but looks to be well made. It has lots of metal parts as you would expect from a Spring Piston Rifle which adds a nice weight and feel to it. I did however have an issue with the front plastic mock Suppressor/Compensator as it does not seem to be attached to the metal barrel very well other than being pressure fit which is not going to cut it with all the vibration a spring piston system makes. My first shot loosened the mock Suppressor/Compensator so I will either have to hold it when shooting or find another way to make sure it stays in place.

Realism: The Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun is kind of unique in this department as most break barrel rifles are not Replicas, especially the more compact sub machine gun styled ones. Umarex did good job making the Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun look like a real HK MP7 for the most part. Of course it is a Spring Piston Rifle at its core so exceptions had to be made to make this work including molded non working parts like the magazine release, sector switch and, bolt/ejection port. That said all in all it is a decent looking replica considering it is a Break Barrel Airgun under the skin.

Pros:

  • Not many Replica Pellet Rifles on the market, especially in a more compact gun.

  • Comes with Red Dot sight.

  • Lots of rails for adding accessories to it.

  • Full HK Licensed by Umarex.

  • Collapsible Wire Stock.

  • Nice high claimed 490 fps.

  • No need for CO2 so low cost to cooperate.

  • Not effected by temperature like a CO2 Airgun.

  • Should have better accuracy than most BB Replica Airguns.

  • Very solid feel to it, good overall weight and feel.

Cons:

  • Not going to be an action shooter, have to reload after each shot.

  • A good overall Replica but not as Realistic or full operation as a BB version would be.

  • Mock Suppressor/Compensator poorly attached to barrel.

Comments:
The Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun is an interesting product, on one hadn't it is a Replica Airgun and most people expect a Replica Airgun to have all of the appropriate working parts similar to what would be found on the real steel version. But since this is a Break Barrel Airgun at the core the Umarex HK MP7 .177 Cal Break Barrel Pellet Gun will not function the same as the Real Steel version so as long as you don’t expect it to and appreciate the fact that it should be a nice accurate low cost to operate target rifle then I think you will understand this product and enjoy it for what it is… A Single Shot Pellet Rifle that looks a lot like a HK MP7.

Crosman ST-1 CO2 Blowback Full Auto Steel BB Machine Gun Table Top Review

Type: BB Rifle.
Manufacturer: Crosman.
Model: ST-1.
Materials: Metal & plastic.
Weight: 6.07 pounds (2.75 kilograms).
Total Length: 17.75/33 inches (Pistol/Rifle).
Barrel Length: 15.5 inches.
Propulsion: 12 gram CO2 dual cartridges.
Action: Blowback - single action only.
Ammunition Type: 4.5mm steel BB's.
Ammunition Capacity: 25 Round/Spring - 300 Round/Hopper.
FPS: 480fps.
Rate of Fire: 1400 rounds per minute in full auto

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Crosman ST-1 CO2 Blowback Full Auto Steel BB Machine Gun is single action only since the right side charging handle must be cocked first before you can shoot it to engage the action. The trigger is short and fairly light but not overly light. The real fun happens with the Crosman ST-1 CO2 Blowback Full Auto Steel BB Machine Gun when you switch it over to full auto mode and with just one pull and hold of the trigger you empty the 25 round magazine in a mere matter of seconds at 1400 rounds per minute.

Accuracy: I have not actually shot this BB Rifle to date but expect it to get similar results to the other Crosman Full Auto BB Machine guns I have already reviewed. I am expecting a bit more velocity with the longer barrel extension installed and would be happy if I was able to get in the mid 400’s. Accuracy should also be about the same with 1 inch semi auto groups from 30 feet out expending a bit when in full auto.

Build Quality: The Crosman ST-1 CO2 Blowback Full Auto Steel BB Machine Gun is well made all around. Weighing in at 6.07 pounds without any add on accessories other than the included compact Red Dot sight. It feels solid and well built. There is a lot of metal going on inside and out of this rifle but keep in mind the top and bottom receiver are plastic with metal parts where they need to be like in the internals, pretty much all the working parts are metal, the magazine is full metal, the buffer tub is metal, charging handle, selector switch, magazine release, bolt release, trigger and of course the barrel is metal.

Realism: The Crosman ST-1 CO2 Blowback Full Auto Steel BB Machine Gun is not modeled after any real steel gun I know of. It resembles a futuristic weapon you would see in a SciFi Action Movie or Alien First Person Shooter. I was not a fan of it when it was first released by Crosman but after seeing and holding it in person it is growing on me quickly.

Pros:

  • Very unique, not like your regular Replica Rifles, very futuristic in design.

  • Drop out magazine doubles as the 300 round hopper and holds CO2 and BB’s.

  • Comes with Red Dot Sight and lots of rails for mounting what every you want on it.

  • Can be either a Pistol or Rifle or a PDW by adding or removing the Barrel Extension and Rear Stock.

  • Barrel Extension actual lengthens the barrel and should increase fps, not just for show!

  • Tactile comfortable rubber padding in multiple locations.

  • Semi auto and full Auto selectable.

  • Expected higher fps of up to 480.

Cons:

  • Some people may not like the look? Not like your normal modern rifle.

  • Front rubber grip comes off really easy at least on mine?

  • Will require barrel extension for full velocity.

Comments:

The Crosman ST-1 CO2 Blowback Full Auto Steel BB Machine Gun is a brave move by Crosman, I was not expecting something like this from them and when I originally saw it I was not sure if it was a good idea or not but again once seeing it in person and actually holing it I feel a lot better about it. It will for sure appeal to those looking for a futuristic Airgun or wanting something that looks like a gun from a video game or SciFi movie. I also like the versatility you have with the Crosman ST-1 CO2 Blowback Full Auto Steel BB Machine Gun being able to configure it how you like either as a Pistol, full on Rifle or PDW style shooter.

Different Types of Airgun Sights

Different Types of Airgun Sights

Sights for guns in general are the same for Airguns as is with real steel guns for the most part and can be mixed and matched with a couple of exceptions. Spring piston rifles for instance are an exception because of the unique vibration the spring makes and how it can damage a standard optical sight, so in this case you’re best to use an optical sight designed for a spring piston Airgun. In most other cases sights can be used on all types of guns.

In this Airgun Sights video I will go over the various types of sights that either come as part of the gun design or can be added afterwards using a rail or mounting system.

Types of Airgun Sights most commonly used.

Iron Sight (Fixed or removable).

Iron Sight (Adjustable).

Iron Sight (White Dot, Fiber Optic).

Come in Post/Notch, Post/Aperture (Peep).

Common on Pistols and Rifles

Laser Sight:

Generally added to a rail or can sometime be integrated into the design of the gun.

Common on both Pistols and Rifles.

Red Dot and Holographic:

Generally not magnified.

Most common on Rifles but can be used on Pistols.

Optical Magnified (Telescopic)

Come in a variety of magnifications for different shooting ranges.

Generally for Rifles but can be used on Pistols.

Different Types of Airgun Safeties

Gun Safeties generally are going to be similar for all types of guns, so Safeties used with Airguns are often the same types as used with Real Steel Guns. Some guns will have no Safeties at all while other guns many have multiple Safeties on them. In this informative video I go over six of the more common types of Gun Safeties used in Real Steel Guns and Air Guns.

Here is a list of the more common types of gun Safeties.

  • Trigger Safety

  • Cross Bolt Safety

  • Slide Safety

  • Frame Safety

  • Grip Safety

  • Magazine Safety

Full Blowback Versus Partial Blowback Airguns Explained

I sometimes mention in my review videos that a gun is either Full Blowback or Partial Blowback and some people may not understand exactly what this means and how it effects the Airguns Blowback Action and Performance so I figured it would be best to make a dedicated video talking about the differences and also some of the Pro’s and Con’s of each type of Blowback Action.

In the video I obviously go into a fair amount of detail and show you around each type of Airgun and Magazine as they do differ a fair amount but to summaries for you here in this written form, the main difference is going to be how much the slide moves back and forth. With Full Blowback Airguns the slide will move much longer back and forth on the frame of the Airgun much like a real gun does and the slide Catch/Lock generally locks back further too. With a Partial Blowback Airgun the slide generally has a shorter range of movement back and forth on the frame with the slide locks usually about half of the distance compared to a Full Blowback Airgun.

The magazines are also very different as a Full Blowbacks Airgun generally has a partially exposed BB which is pushed into the barrel by the nozzle with each slide cycle. With a Partial Blowback Airgun the BB is generally not exposed and either the trigger action or simply the CO2 force is required to transfer the BB in the breach of the Airgun.

Another point to mention is that Full Blowback Airguns tend to use more CO2 and have a slightly lower velocity as compared to Partial Blowback Airguns but this is not a rule.

Airgun Magazine Types Explained - BB - Pellet - Airsoft

There are many types of magazines used in Airguns and some of this is dependent on the ammunition used.

For instance a stacked type of magazine often used for Steel BB and Airsoft can not be used for Pellets as pellets tend to deform when stacked in such a way since there is no metal casting protecting them from mashing into each other.

So what type of magazines do we generally see in Airguns? The most common Airgun magazines are as follows:

Simple Stick Magazine

  • Mostly used with Steel BB but also found in some Airsoft Airguns.

  • Some Pellet Airguns use a type of stick magazine with a rotary magazine on each end.

  • Used in non-blowback and blowback Airguns.

  • Can be made from plastic or steel or a combination of both materials.

Full Size Drop Out Magazine

  • Used with Steel BB and Airsoft guns.

  • Generally you will find these types magazines hold both the BB’s and CO2.

  • Used in non-blowback and blowback Airguns.

  • Commonly used with Airsoft Rifles in mid to high capacity.

  • Can be made from plastic or steel or a combination of both materials.

Rotary magazine

  • Used with Steel BB, Airsoft and Pellet Airguns.

  • Used in non-blowback and blowback Airguns.

  • Can be made from plastic or steel.

  • Can often use mixed ammo types as in both 4.5mm Steel BB and .177 caliber pellet.

Belt Fed Magazine

  • Like rotary magazine belt fed magazine can accommodate Steel BB, Pellet and Airsoft but are most often used with Pellet Airguns.

  • Usually found in a full size magazine that also holds the CO2.

  • Used in non-blowback and blowback Airguns.

  • Can be made from plastic or steel or a combination of both materials.

Internal Magazine

  • Used with Steel BB, Airsoft.

  • Can have a hopper built in hat feeds a spring fed magazine.

  • Usually found in lesser expensive Airguns but not a rule.

In this Video I go through each type of Airgun Magazine and talk about their differences and uses.

What has More Accuracy and Power - BB - Pellet - Airsoft - Paintball - Video 2 Accuracy

In this two part video series I compare several Air Pistols to each other to find out what type of round has the most power and accuracy. The guns I use for this not so scientific test are the KWC Model DE /50 Desert Eagle CO2 Blowback 6mm Plastic Airsoft Pistol, the EKOL ES 55 CO2 4.5mm Steel BB Pistol, the Umarex Magnum Research Desert Eagle Blowback CO2 .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol and the Umarex T4E TR50 CO2 .50 Caliber Paintball Pistol.

For this Video 2 Accuracy Test I shoot all of the above listed Airguns at a paper target setup 30 feet down range using a semi rested shooting position with my hands resting on a sand bag up front and seated on a stool in the back. It’s not perfect but works well enough. I didn’t take a ton of time with each gun since there where 4 to shoot in this Field Test Shooting Video so accuracy may have been a bit better if I took a little more time with each gun.

In Video 2 I test the power and penetration of each Airgun option shooting at a pop can, a soup can and a toilet paper roll so make sure to watch that video if you have not already watched it.

What has More Accuracy and Power - BB - Pellet - Airsoft - Paintball - Video 1 Power

For this Video 1 Power Test I shoot all of the above listed Airguns first at a pop can, then a soup can and then a toilet paper roll. The ides is to test penetration abilities with the pop and soup can and then raw force shooting the toilet paper as it will absorb all the energy from each airgun round and by gauging how much the toilet paper reacts or moves it should tell us which airgun has the most raw power or energy.

In Video 2 I will be testing accuracy using my standard 30 round paper target setup in the Replica Airguns Sea Can so stay posted for that upcoming video shortly…

Canadian Temporary Handgun Ban What it Means for Airguns

In this Replica Airguns Video I talk about the latest Canadian Temporary Handgun Ban What it Means for Airguns. I talk about what I think abut it and what it means for Replica Airguns now and in the future.

Canada puts in place temporary handgun import ban!

From: Global Affairs Canada

News release

August 05, 2022 - Toronto, Ontario - Global Affairs Canada

Canadians deserve to feel safe in their communities. That is why the Government of Canada has a comprehensive plan that gets firearms off our streets and more

resources into our communities. A central part of this is the recently introduced Bill C21. The bill addresses the alarming role of guns in gender based violence, gets tough on organized crime and most significantly introduces a national freeze on the sale,

transfer and ownership of handguns, anywhere in Canada.

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable Marco Mendicino, Minister of Public Safety, today announced a temporary import ban on the importation of restricted handguns. This will help bring the ultimate impact of the national handgun freeze into force sooner. This temporary ban means that individuals and businesses will no longer be able to import handguns into Canada, subject to narrow exceptions that mirror those in Bill C-21. These restrictions will take effect on

August 19th, 2022, and will last until the national freeze comes into force. No single program or initiative can tackle the challenge of gun violence on its own. That is why Bill C-21 and the national freeze on handguns are two of the many elements in the Government’s comprehensive plan to keep Canadians safe. This begins at our borders, where we’ve added resources to fight smuggling and stop guns from coming into Canada. We’re also investing in prevention programs to tackle the root causes of gun crime and stop it before it starts. Finally, we banned assault-style weapons like AR15s, and will soon begin a buyback program to get these weapons of war out of our communities once and for all.

Quotes

“We know that one Canadian killed by gun violence is one too many. As a government, it is our duty to ensure that Canada remains one of the safest places to live in the world. The import ban announced today will help to keep guns stay off our streets as we work towards implementing Bill C-21, reducing gun violence in the immediate term.

- Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs

“My top priority as Minister is keeping Canadians safe in their communities. Today’s announcement is further proof that we are using all tools at our disposal to fight gun crime in this country. It is a key pillar of our plan to address it, along with investments in prevention, action at our borders, a ban on assault-style weapons and Bill C-21 –Canada’s most significant action on gun violence in a generation.”

- Marco Mendicino, Minister of Public Safety

Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol Field Test Review

In this Field Test Shooting Video for the Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol I perform two main tests to find out what the velocity and accuracy capabilities are for it first using my Chronograph and shooting several rounds through it averaging out the fps. For the second test I shoot 7 rounds into a fresh paper target 30 feet down range to see how tight of a grouping I can get.

For my Velocity test Beeman claims the P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol is capable of around 410 fps using standard lead pellets which I found to be a very close estimate as my results using 6.9 grain lead pellets achieved a 4 shot average of 404 fps so only 6 fps off the claim. There are lighter lead pellets out there and even lighter alloy pellets so higher velocities are possible using less grain pellets but a decent grain pellet hitting 400+ fps is not bad considering only one pump is required to get max velocity from the Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol.

Moving on to the accuracy portion of the test I setup a fresh paper target 30 feet away and proceeded to put 7 rounds into it shooting from a seated and rested shooting position (sand bag up front, seated in the back). I was a bit surprised to only get a 1.5 inch grouping but it seemed like there where three separate sub groups that each overlapped within themselves? I think perhaps when I pumped the gun I may have been disrupting the rear sight a bit as it does have some play in it for adjustments so you want to be careful not to place your hands on the rear sight when cooking the Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol. Out of the box the shot placement was fairly well centered with two of the rounds right dead center of the bulls-eye.

I kind of want to do a retest at some point maybe with a different pellet and also making sure not place my hands over the rear sight when cocking the Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol as I feel this Target Pellet Pistol is capable of .5 inch groupings. The trigger is really nice and the rifled barrel is a decent length with easy to use sights so this Air Pistol should do a bit better than I was able to get shooting it on this day. Either way it is a really fun gun to shoot and with a bit of time figuring it out I am confident you can get better results than I did.

Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol Table Top Review

Type: Pellet Pistol.
Manufacturer: Beeman
Model: P17 2004.
Materials: Steel, Aluminum and Polymer.
Weight: 1.7 pounds (771 Grams).
Barrel: 7 inches (177.8mm) - rifled.
Propulsion: Single Stroke Pneumatic.
Action: Single Shot SAO.
Ammunition Type: .177 Caliber Pellets.
Ammunition Capacity: 1.
Max FPS: 410.

Trigger Pull: The Single action only trigger pull on the Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol is excellent, super light with just a little bit of take-up, the release is very predictable, one of the best target pistol triggers I have reviewed for sure. There is no adjustment but I do not feel it is nessisary at all.

Accuracy: Spoiler alert! Before posting the written version of this review I did make the Field Test Shooting Video so I can give you a little bit of a heads up on how well the Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol in its Field Test Shooting Video. In terms of velocity it was really close to the 410 fps using lead pellets and for accuracy I was pleased with there results but feel the gun can do better than the result I got on this day, perhaps a different pellet choice, some more break in time or maybe just me shooting on a different day. That said I confident this gun is very capable of getting groupings under an inch in the right conditions, maybe even 1/2 an inch.

Build Quality: The build quality of the Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol is good considering it is a sub $100 target pistol with a great trigger, fully adjustable fiber optic sights and only one pump to get maximum velocity. The outer shell is polymer while the pump and valve body are aluminum with the barrel and main valve made out of steel. the trigger and latch are also metal.

Realism: The Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol is not really a replica of a real steel gun in production per-say but the pistol grips are very Walther P series looking so if you are Walther owner or like the grips on the Walther P series guns then you will enjoy the hold of the Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol.

Pros:

  • Reasonable price for an accurate full featured target pistol.

  • Safety automatically resets to the safe position when you pump/charge the pistol.

  • No need for CO2 so very inexpensive to shoot.

  • Virtually no recoil or vibration like you find in spring piston airguns.

  • Fiber optic front and back sight, also fully adjustable for windage and elevation.

  • Quality materials where you need them for expected long life and use.

  • Only requires one pump for full 410 fps power.

  • Works great for left and right handed shooters.

  • Good if you like Walther type pistol grips, same shape and feel as many P series pistols.

  • Excellent trigger feel and pull.

Cons:

  • Loading pellets is a bit awkward.

  • Have to pump it for each shot, no action shooting here.

  • Not rally a replica if that’s what you are after but generally most Spring Piston or Pneumatic Airguns are not replicas with a couple exceptions.

Comments:
So the Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol is not really a Replica or even an action shooter but it does have its place in an airgun collection. I love blasting pop cans just as much as the next person but sometimes I like to slow things down and see how accurate I can get with an Airgun and not be too concerned that the gun is interfering with the accuracy. This is one way to really improve your shooting skills and having to work for each shot makes it that much more rewarding. The Beeman P17 2004 Single Stroke .177 Caliber Pellet Pistol allows you to have a great time honing in your shooting skills for not a lot of cash up front and cost per shot is only whatever the pellets cost you.

G&G Piranha SL GBB Airsoft Pistol Field Test Review

In this Field Test Review Shooting Video I take the G&G Piranha SL GBB Airsoft Pistol through its paces to find out what we can expect in terms of velocity and accuracy. I perform two main tests, the Chronograph Test where I shoot around 5 rounds and average them out to see what the real world fps is and then I shoot 10 rounds at a paper taggert setup 30 feet downrange to see how tight of a grouping I can achieve with the G&G Piranha SL GBB Airsoft Pistol. I don’t talk much about the specifications and details in this video so if you are interested in that information you can watch my Table Top Video for this Airsoft Pistol here.

Starting first with the Chronograph Velocity Test I loaded .20 gram Airsoft BB’s into both of the supplied magazines and filled them up with propane gas. Often times because the valves may be tuned just a bit differently, you can expect each magazine to shoot a slightly different velocities or fps. This was the case with the G&G Piranha SL GBB Airsoft Pistol as the shorter double stack 25 round magazine averaged 353 fps while the longer single stack 20 round magazine shot a 328 average fps. So 25 fps difference between the two.

Moving on to the accuracy portion of the test I was able to get close to a two inch grouping fairly well centered shooting at a fresh paper target setup 30 feet away from a rested shooting position with my hands on a sand bag up front and sitting in the back. I was having some problems with the shorter double stack 25 round magazine not chambering rounds consistently which meant I had to reset my shooting position many times but even so I was able to get close to a two inch grouping. I did load up a different 25 round magazine from another Piranha Airsoft Pistol I had around and this magazine shot perfectly without any chambering problems so there must be something not exactly right with the short magazine that came with my G&G Piranha SL.

Other than the feeding issue I had for the double stack 25 round short magazine that came with my G&G Piranha SL GBB Airsoft Pistol, the Airsoft gun performed well. It for sure made for an entertaining video spraying Airsoft BB’s all over the Sea Can and trying o figure out why the Airsoft Pisotl was not working as it should. Such is life and at the end of the day it was simply something going on with the one magazine which seemed ot have a problem releasing the Airsoft BB’s into the gas chamber. All that was needed was a new magazine and we where back in business!

KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol Field Test Review

In this Field Test Shooting Video I test out the KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol in the Replica Airguns Indoor Sea Can Shooting Range to find out what the velocity and accuracy is using .20 gram Airsoft BB’s. If you’re more interested in details, specifications and close up video of the KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol then make sure to watch my Table Top Video for that information.

Starting with the velocity test I averaged out 6 rounds using my chronograph to find out the fps velocity for the KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol and I was able to get 279.5 fps, the slowest of the 6 shots was 279 with the fastest being 281 so actually fairly closer to each other. I do mention at the end of the video that it felt like the velocity was not consistent because the blowback action to me felt like it was heavier on some shots than others? I felt like this might effect accuracy in terms of elevations if the velocity was not consistent but it ended up not being a factor as far as I could tell.

For my accuracy test I loaded 10 rounds in the KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol and proceeded to place them to the best of my ability into my paper target setup 30 feet down range using a rested and seated shooting position (Sand bag up front, seated on a stool in the back). Even though the grouping spread out to about 4 inches, all but one round stayed within about 2 inches and side to side the spread was closer to about 1.5 inches for all shots. In terms of placement on the target they where all fairly well centered out of the box.

The fps for the KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol is a bit low using the preinstalled short internal barrel that does not allow for the added threaded barrel extension but you could install the short internal threaded barrel and add the external barrel extension to increase the fps to more in the range of 360+. That said you would have a fairly long brass inner barrel protruding from your gun with no way I can see to install a mock suppressor to hide it so it would not look so good this way and there is also the possibility of damaging the thin exposed external barrel. Overall the KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol performed well but I feel needs a little bit of break in time to smooth out the blowback consistency but even as is it shot consistent fps and was able to get most rounds well placed on the center of the target.

KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol Table Top Review

Type: Gas Blowback Airsoft Pistol.
Manufacturer: KJWorks
Model: CZ P-09
Materials: Metal & Polymer.
Weight: 2.3 pounds (1050 grams).
Length: 9 inches (229mm) total.
Barrel: 4.4 inches (120mm), Metal non-rifled smooth bore. (Comes with barrel extension)
Propulsion: Green gas or propane.
Action: Blowback, single and double action.
Ammunition Type: 6mm plastic Airsoft BB's.
Ammunition Capacity: 25rounds.
FPS: 376 fps.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol is good in both single and double action shooting modes. Most of the time you will be shooting in single action as the blowback action will do all the work cycling the slide and retracting the hammer allowing for light quick single action follow up shots. If you do decide to drop the hammer in-between shooting you can then pull the double action trigger which is much longer and a bit heavier but this will draw the hammer back and release the trigger as expected with single action shots to follow.

Accuracy: So far I have not made my Field Test Shooting Video for the KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol but do expect it to behave much like the ASG distributed version of this same gun which by the way is also made by KJWorks. The only real difference to consider will be the gas used in both of these Airsoft guns as the ASG distributed version uses CO2 while the KJWorks version reviewed in this video uses Green Gas or Propane which will reduce the velocity a little bit. We will find out next week when I make my Field Test Shooting Video for the KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol.

Build Quality: KJWorks is know for making high quality products and the KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol is no different. Fit and finish is excellent and the quality of material is also very good with similar materials used as you would expect them compared to the real steel version with the exception of the metals not having to be as high grade because of way less force and pressure on the Airsoft version.

Realism: The KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol is a one to one Replica of the real steel CZ P-09 firearm and on first inspection would be hard to tell apart. You are going to find CZ licensing throughout this Airsoft Pistol in all the right places and all the controls work just like the powder burning CZ P-09. The full blowback operation, reassessed barrel and ability to field strip it also aid in making the shooting experience super realistic.

Pros:

  • Build quality feels really goods, lots of weight to this Airsoft Pistol.

  • Full length blowback action.

  • Accurate licensed CZ P-09 Replica.

  • Trigger pull is nice in both single and double action.

  • Picatinny rail for adding accessories like a tac light or laser.

  • Double stack full size drop out Metal Magazine holds the Green Gas and 25 Airsoft BB’s

  • No orange tip which is always nice.

  • Easy to see white dot front and back sights.

  • Green Gas which when using propane is fairly cheap to shoot.

  • Easily Field Strippable.

  • Adjustable Hop-up.

Cons:

  • Sights don’t seem to be adjustable.

  • Controls are not fully ambidextrous.

  • Green Gas version has less velocity than CO2 version.

Comments:

The KJWorks CZ P-09 GBB Airsoft Pistol is really almost exactly like the ASG Distributed version since both are made by KJWorks at the end of the day. There are some slight differences between them like CO2 versus Green Gas and some other very minimal cosmetic changes. I would say go with which ever version is in stock and perhaps is less expensive at the time. You really can’t go wrong as this is a great choice to make for an Airsoft Side arm to use on the Airsoft field or for plinking in your yard or indoor range.
