Sig Sauer X-Five ASP CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol Field Test Review

The Sig Sauer X-Five ASP CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol is Sigs latest ASP (Advanced Sport Pellet) air pistol and like the Sig Sauer APS P320 has a high capacity bet fed magazine along with an easy load CO2 system. So who did the Sig Sauer X-Five ASP CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol perform compared to my preview testing of the Sig Sauer P320 ASP?

For my velocity testing I placed 5 rounds through my Chrony Chronograph using a brand new Sig Sauer CO2 along with Sigs Match Ballistic Alloy 5.25 grain pellets. This was the same setup when I  performed the Sig Sauer ASP P320 testing. The Sig Sauer X-Five ASP CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol shot an average of 359 fps which was lower than my testing of the Sig Sauer ASP P320 as it shot an average of 413 fps. I am not sure why there was such a difference since both guns use similar internal mechanics but I have a feeling the CO2 may not have been pierced fully since some of the shots seemed to be weaker than others and CO2 output did not seem consistent even causing the blowback action to not fully cycle on a couple of shots.

Moving onto accuracy, my Sig Sauer ASP P320 shooting an 8 round group got around a 2 inch spread. I was able to get a tighter 1.5 inch grouping with my Sig Sauer X-Five ASP CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol and this was with 10 shots rather than 8 so the Sig Sauer X-Five ASP CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol may have shot a bit slower but it did seem to be a little bit tighter in terms of accuracy. The Sig Sauer X-Five ASP CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol was shooting a bit low and to the left for me in my accuracy testing but the rear sight is fully adjustable for windage and elevation so this can be easily corrected.

I strongly feel something did not go right when the CO2 was pierced using Sigs proprietary Cantilever Easy CO2 Loading system. There is only one way to do it so I know it was not human error in this case. perhaps the Sig Sauer X-Five ASP CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol needs a little bit of break in time is all?

Overall the Sig Sauer X-Five ASP CO2 Blowback Pellet Pistol is a really well made and fun gun gun to shoot. I love the high capacity belt fed magazine with is not heavy on the trigger at all like some other guns. The fully adjustable rear sight is something you don't often see on CO2 blowback action shooters so hopefully this is a new trend?

Cybergun Stainless Sig Sauer X-five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol Field Test Review

I have kind of already reviews this Cybergun Sig Sauer X-Five Blowback Airsoft pistol before but in the all black version with the non-adjustable sights. I'm kind of glad I did a revisit of this Stainless steel wood grip version since I actually got fairly different results even though both Airsoft Pistols are mechanically the same.

Looking back on at my 2016 Field Test Sooting video for the Cybergun Sig Sauer X-five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol I averaged around 312 fps and placed 10 rounds into my paper target all within about an inch of each other. I just wanted to put that out there as a reference but watch the video and see for yourself...

Skip ahead to the present and my retest of the Cybergun Sig Sauer X-five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol (Stainless version) was still good but power was much better and accuracy went down a  bit. Power for the Stainless Cybergun Sig Sauer X-five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol went up 100 fps with an average of 415 shooting 5 rounds of 20 gram plastic Airsoft BB's though my Chrony Chronograph. That is a big difference for sure!

Yes accuracy went down a bit but with the Stainless Cybergun Sig Sauer X-five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol but I still grouped my 10 shots within about 2 inches using my standard 30 foot back, rested shooting position. There will always be some human factor when shooting this way since the pistol is not locked into place and even though I am using a reseted seated position there is some movement going on.

Overall my retest showed that the Stainless Cybergun Sig Sauer X-five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is well worth taking a look at. Personally I really like this Stainless wood grip version not only for its looks but for the simple fact it has a fully adjustable target sight on the back. Add heavy blowback operation and a very smooth single and double action trigger and this all makes for a great Airsoft Pistol.

SHOT Show 2018 Sig Sauer Interview

Sig Sauer Logo Black.jpg

This year at SHOT Show 2018 I had the please of again interviewing Dani Navickas from Sig Sauer. Dani Showed me several new pistols and a new break barrel rifle Sig Sauer is offering this year. The Sig ASP20 Break Barrel rifle will come in both .177 and .22 caliber pellet shooting versions. The ASP20 has a lighter than most cocking effort of only 33 pounds using their proprietary GlideLite system, along with an adjustable ASP MatchLite trigger.

Another Target pellet airgun from Sig Sauer this year is the .177 caliber pellet shooting Super Target, styled after the Sig Sauer P210 firearm. The Sig Super Target is a single pump pneumatic single shot pistol designed for 10 meeter shooting with adjustable sights and a crips short light trigger.

Sig like several other companies has rebranded their own version of the KWC 1911 CO2 Blowback BB pistols. The Sig Sauer licensed BB 1911 is based on Sigs We the People line to celebrate the American people and their Constitution.

Another new Blowback Pellet firing Sig Sauer Air Pistol was also introduced at SHOT Show, the Sig Sauer X-Five. The X-Five uses their 20 round belt fed magazine and also has Sig's Cam Lever CO2 loading mechanism. You will also find a rear adjustable sight on the Sig Sauer X-Five Pellet Pistol.

Last but not least and perhaps one of the most interesting new products coming out later this year from Sig Sauer is the P320MHS APS which is another new rotary magazine Blowback Pellet Pistol. What's a bit different with the new Sig P320MHS is that it has a full size drop out magazine that holds the CO2 and belt fed pellet magazine. The P320MHS can also be fully field striped, has an open ejection port and is styled after Sig's real Steal M17 firearm.

Cybergun KWC Sig Sauer P226 X-Five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol Field Test Review

In yet another Field Test Shooting Review I test out an Cybergun distributed KWC made CO2 powered Blowback 6mm Plastic BB shooting Sig Sauer P226 X-Five Pistol. I have already done some table top Reviews for a few other versions of this same KWC made pistol... The 4.5mm Steel BB shooting version of this same Cybergun distributed pistol and also the KWC unlicensed version in Airsoft and with some slightly different cosmetics.

Getting to the Field Test shooting portion of this review. I performed my standard five round Chronograph velocity fps test using .20 gram plastic Airsoft BB's with a brand new 12 gram CO2. The fastest Airsoft BB achieved by the Cybergun KWC Sig Sauer P226 X-Five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol was 327 fps and the slowest came in at 298 fps with a five shot average of 312 fps, that might seem low but in terms of a close range Airsoft gun this is ideal.

Next up in my Field Test Shooting Review was my target test, and like always, I set up 30 feet back shooting from a semi-rested position (Sand bag up front and standing in the back). This shooting position provides a nice and stable shooting platform to get a good idea on the overall accuracy I should be able to expect with the Cybergun KWC Sig Sauer P226 X-Five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol. Of course the results are a little dependant on how I'm shoot on the day of my testing :)

I shot 10 rounds through my Cybergun KWC Sig Sauer P226 X-Five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol and they all easily found their mark close together on the paper target, 8 of the 10 shots grouped within a 3/4 inch hole with 2 shots coming out juts a bit extending the grouping to about 2-3 inches. With light Airsoft BB's some shots will stray a little bit but the fact that 8 out of the 10 shots pretty much made one small hole shows that this Blowback Airsoft Pistol is very accurate to say the least.

The Cybergun KWC Sig Sauer P226 X-Five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol has an awesome single action trigger, if your not ready for it it can almost get away on you but after a couple of shots you will easily figure out the break and release points and be hitting targets down range with ease from this super short and light trigger. The Cybergun KWC Sig Sauer P226 X-Five CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol does also have a double action trigger if you decide to lower the hammer but need to take a quick shot. The Blowback action is one of the heavier blowback actions you will find on an CO2 Blowback airgun and the gun itself is fairly large and a bit on the heavy side but at the same time really well balanced and a joy to shoot.

KWC Model 226-S5 Sig Sauer CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol Table Top Review

Type: BB Airsoft Pistol.

Manufacturer: KWC.

Model:Model 226-S5 (Sig Sauer X-Five).

Materials: 99% all metal build.

Weight: 2.75 pounds.

Barrel: 4.33 inches, brass, non-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x1.

Action: Semi auto blowback, double and single action.

Ammunition Type: Airsoft 6mm plastic BB's.

Ammunition Capacity: 25 rounds

FPS: 390

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the KWC Model 226-S5 Sig Sauer CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is what you would expect from a blowback pistol with true single action capability. nice and light with a short take-up in single action and also decent when shooting in double action which for the most part you will not be doing since the blowback pre-cocks the hammer for single action shooting.

Accuracy: This is yet to be determined since I have not conducted my Field Test Shooting review for the KWC Model 226-S5 Sig Sauer. Based on my previous review of the Cybergun branded and licensed Sig X-Five 4.5mm Steel BB version, it should do well with heavy blowback, reasonable power but not a lot of shots per CO2.

Build Quality: Very good, pretty much an all metal construction, good weight and craftsmanship, slide wiggle is minimal, fit and finish is good. As with many of the KWC airguns that use an electromagnetic powder coating, the finish looks great but is thin so it does wear off on the high posts and where metal on metal movement takes place.

Realism: Compared to the real steel Sig Sauer X-Five, the KWC version is pretty close, although it does have a bit different looking slide in terms of the groves or slide serration's, and of course there is no Sig Sauer licensing on the KWC version. You also do not get the ugly white warning instructions so there is a bit of a trade off here and the KWC version also comes with a fully adjustable rear sight which is nice if your aim point is off a bit. Over all the KWC Model 226-S5 Sig Sauer CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol is super realistic with its full blowback operation, full size drop out metal magazine and ability to filed strip just like the real steel Sig Sauer it replicates.

Available From: The Replica Airguns Store

Pros:

  • All metal construction - Extremely good weight and solid feeling gun. As real as you can get.

  • Heavy blowback action.

  • Accurate X-five replica without the Sig Licensing or white warning instructions.

  • Awesome training gun.

  • Both SA & DA with excellent trigger pull, very smooth and light.

  • Has the fully adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation.

  • Nice high capacity full size drop out metal magazine.

  • Fully field strippable.

Cons:

  • Top loading magazine only.

  • Sacrifice some fps and shots per CO2 because of the heavy blowback but worth it.

  • Finish is prone to wear on the high spots and metal on metal areas

Comments:

I am really looking forward to my Field Test Shooting video for this Airsoft pistol, the KWC Model 226-S5 Sig Sauer is a nice big heavy pistol with lots of blowback, right up my alley! I am hoping the hop-up will keep this gun in the same accuracy zone as the 4.5mm Cybergun X-Five version, I may just have to test them head to head to find out? If you're a Sig Sauer fan like me, and require a solid useable Airsoft pistol for gaming or just plinking, the KWC Model 226-S5 Sig Sauer CO2 Blowback Airsoft Pistol should do the job well and at a price point that is very reasonable.

Tanfoglio Gold Custom vs Sig Sauer X-Five Sight Rail Head to Head Shootout

Moving on to the head to head comparison of the Tanfoglio Gold Custom versus the Sig Sauer X-Five Sight Rail (Open version). Again like my previous video of the KWC Model M1911 Tac A1 versus the Cybergun-KWC GSG 92-M92, these two Air Pistols feature full size drop out metal magazines that hold the CO2 and 4.5mm steel BB's, along with full blowback with working slide catches, safeties and magazine releases. Both are field Strippable and both have the addition of sight rails with red dot sights for quick target acquisition.

I did not find either sight rail pistol to be all that much more accurate than similar open sight pistols like the KWC Model M1911 Tac A1 and Cybergun-KWC GSG 92-M92, but I did find that target acquisition was much quicker and even when I accidentally double tapped the trigger, the second round was right on target.

In this field test comparison I shoot both guns through my Chronograph to see what kind of feet per second performance each one shoots, I also take them back 30 feet and shoot 10 rounds on a paper target using a semi rested position for true accuracy results.

KWC SP2022 - Taurus PT24 - Sig Sauer P226 X-Five - Crosman 357 Update Video

Sorry for not posting any videos for almost a week but the kids are back to school and I was also away in Whistler on a short family get away for the first half of the week. So I thought I would put together a quick Update video to show off some new products added to the Canada Replica Airguns Store and also an upcoming product review of a Crosman Pellet Revolver.

In this video Update I show you around two KWC Airsoft pistols, the Sig Pro SP2022, and the Taurus PT 24 (24/7), both of which I just added to the Canada Replica Airguns Store. I also show you a very nice alternative to the Cybergun Sig Sauer P226 X-Five - the KWC Equivalent which almost exactly the same but with an adjustable rear sight, flared magwell and an unlicensed slide.

One air pistol I get asked to review over and over again is the Crosman 357 .177 caliber pellet revolver and so I contacted Crosman and they where kind enough to send me one for review, so keep checking back for that one, it will be coming up soon.

I also show off an assortment of Airsoft Magainzes and Airgun Magazines recently added to the Replica Airguns Canada Store.

Oh-yh, one more thing. I briefly mention an upcoming contest/giveaway that will coincide with my 10,000,000 YouTube Channel Video View that should be happening in the next couple of week!

KWC Sig Sauer P226 X-Five Added to the Canada Store

I have been selling the Cybergun Sig Sauer P226 X-Five in both the Standard and Open versions for some time now but it can be hard keeping them in stock as they are very popular. I just added another option of the same gun but in the KWC configuration, the KWC version is similar to the Cybergun Standard model but with adjustable sights and a flared magwell similar to the Cybergun Open version. Magazines and parts are all interchangeable.

The Cybergun Sig Sauer P226 X Five is a CO2 powered 4.5mm all metal BB pistol. This detailed BB shooter is a replica of the real Sig Sauer P226 X Five and features a full size drop out metal magazine that holds both the 4.5mm BB's and the CO2 cartridge. It features a working slide with realistic blowback operation and can be fully field stripped just like the actual sidearm.

Which Airgun is the Best?

One question I get asked all the time is to give my feedback on guns and in most cases I am asked to compare two or three guns with each other and come up with a definitive answer as to which on is the best or "which one should I buy?"

In this Vimeo Video I talk a bit about how I feel answering these questions because in many situations the guns being compared can not always be ranked on a scale as one being better then the other. Many times each gun offers its own set of positive and negative features and it really comes down to what features are most suited to your needs. Your needs may be very different then mine

Often it can be as simple as what style or look do you prefer because the guns in question may share the same features and benefits.

Cybergun Sig Sauer X-Five P226 Open CO2 BB Pistol Review

Type: BB air pistol.

Manufacturer: Cybergun.

Model:Sig Sauer X-Five P226 Open.

Materials: 99% all metal build.

Weight: 2.86 pounds.

Barrel: 4.4 inches, brass, non-rifled.

Propulsion: CO2 x1.

Action: Semi auto blowback, double and single action.

Ammunition Type: Steel BBs 4.5mm.

Ammunition Capacity: 18 rounds

FPS: 330

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Sig Sauer X-Five is what you would expect from a real automatic pistol, in single action mode it is very light and short. The blowback action re-cocks the hammer with each shot.

Accuracy: Excellent for a BB shooter, I got about a 1 inch grouping from a 20 foot away free standing position with this red dot equipped BB shooter. I also put the Cybergun Sig Sauer P226 Open version through my Chrony Chronograph and even though the box has a 300 FPS rating on it I, I was able to get an 8 shot average of 343 FPS.

Build Quality: Excellent, with an almost all metal construction, this gun has some weight to it and the craftsmanship is also very good!

Realism: The Cybergun Sig Sauer X-Five P226 is as close as you can come to the look, weight, feel, and action of the real Sig Sauer X-Five. P226! Everything about this gun makes it feel real, it would make an excellent training gun for someone just getting started in the sport or even for a skilled semi auto shooter wanting to hone their skills when a gun range is not easily accessible.

Available From: The Replica Airguns Store

Pros:

  • Field strips just like the real Sig Sauer X-Five P226.

Cons:

  • Sacrifice some fps and shots per CO2 because of the heavy blowback but worth it.

  • A bit hard to load up.

  • Can not field strip without taking off the sight rail?

Comments:

This Cybergun BB air pistol is styled after many modern blowback Airsoft pistols, this means it functions very similarly to the real steel. It is a very hefty gun made almost entirely from metal and has a very snappy blowback action which adds to its shooting realism. Even the magazine looks and feels like a real 9mm magazine with similar weight and dimensions. The Cybergun Sig Sauer X-Five Open version shoots even more accurately than the non-sight rail version because of the addition of a Red Dot scope helping the accuracy! Both the regular version of teh Sig Sauer X-Five P226 and this "Open" version are absolutely great air pistols but for the extra $10 price tag you get some really nice additions to this pistol including an adjustable rear sight.

Cybergun Sig Sauer X-Five P226 Sight Rail CO2 BB Pistol

An extremely popular BB Air pistol with many of my YouTube viewers and Replica Airgun Store purchasers has been the Cybergun Sig Sauer X-Five P226. The interesting thing about this very realistic Blowback BB shooter is that it comes in two versions, the Standard version and the fully loaded Sight Rail version that includes a Sight Rail, Compensator and a fully adjustable Rear Sight. If all you got for the extra $10 was the fully adjustable rear sight it would be worth it alone, but you also get the Metal Compensator and Metal Sight Rail for mounting a targeting scope.

I recently added the Sight Rail version of this very fine Cybergun Sig Sauer P226 Replica and plan to at least do a condensed review on it to show off some of its extra bits and pieces.

And again, I have some photos for you so you can get a nice close look at this amazingly realistic BB Replica.

Cybergun Sig Sauer X-Five CO2 BB Chronograph Shooting & Slow-mo

Now that I'm making dedicated Chronograph videos of my air guns, I have been asked several times now to also Chrony my Cybergun Sig Sauer P226 X-Five and Cybergun GSG 92 CO2 Blowback 4.5mm BB guns. Well, here is the first video of the two very popular Cybergun pistols.

My Chronograph results where very good with an average 8 shot FPS result of 328! I also took some extra time to revisit my target result testing and shot the Sig Sauer BB shooter at a target from 20 feet out in a free standing position and it got about a 1.5 inch grouping which is very respectable for a blowback BB shooter.

Lastly a pulled out my Casio high-speed camera and took some video of the blowback action of the Cybergun Sig Sauer P226 X-Five at 210 frames per second.

Enjoy my Vimeo Video of the Cybergun Sig Sauer P226 X-Five CO2 BB gun getting Chronographed, shooting at a target and slowed down a bit.

SIG SAUER X-FIVE P226 TAKE DOWN FOR STRIPPING AND PAINTING

DISCLAIMER, PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND!

  • This walkthrough is for information purposes ONLY, if you decide to dismantle your BB gun you will void any warranty you have with the manufacturer.
  •  I will not be held accountable for your actions or any damage that is caused by your negligence. Therefore, if YOU decide to dismantle your BB gun and break something during the dismantling or assembling it is your problem not mine.
  • If you don’t feel confident or comfortable doing any of these steps STOP and do not proceed any further or you may do damage.
  • YOU WILL LOOSE ALL THE SIG SAUER MARKINGS ON THE GUN.

Having said all that, this is my first ever instructional so I’m going to try and make this walkthrough as easy as I can for you to understand. You will need the following: Flat tip Screwdriver for the grips, Small Philips Head screwdriver, small punch & needle nose pliers – the last 2 are optional.

Make sure you have a clean work space and lay out every part in the order that you remove it Left to Right, come reassembly time you work Right to Left it makes reassembly so much easier.

Step 1:

Field Strip the slide until it looks like this:

Unscrew these 2 screws, these hold in the “Breech Block” once your unscrewed cup the end of the slide in your hand and let the Breech & Screws fall in your hand – Set these aside.

That’s it your Slide should look like this:

It is now ready for paint removal.

Step 2:

Take the Frame and start removing the grips Left hand side first:

Flip the frame over and remove the right hand side grips:

Carefully remove the trigger return spring, it is under tension and it WILL fly across the room – I spent an hour looking for it one day! Also while we are at it, you can remove the cover to the magazine release.

To remove the safety, place your flat tip screwdriver between the frame and the safety and twist ever so gently this will separate the safety and all you need to do now is grab the safety from either side and gently pull & wiggle until it separates.

Once the safety is removed you will see the safety bar, this lifts off.

Step 3:

Lift this little pin out and remove the spring, very carefully push this pin from the other side and remove, be careful because once this happens your hammer assembly is loose and free from the frame.

Slowly and gently remove the hammer assembly:

Note the little shiny piece that sits on the side of the hammer assembly, try very hard not to let this piece fly out, it is a pain to get back in, if it does fly out keep calm and take your time, don’t force the little spring in, it seats in behind the shiny metal thing – sorry I don’t have a proper name for it.

Also make sure that the spring next to it is in the locked open position, if it snaps back just get the tip of a small screwdriver and slide it to the left until it locks.

The hammer return spring assembly at the back of the grips can be removed and set aside.

Removing the trigger assembly is easier than it looks; you need to remove the takedown lever by rotating it counter clockwise until it stops.

Push it through the frame and rotate it back clockwise to remove it all together.

Remove the screw holding the trigger assembly:

Lift out the trigger assembly; be careful of the slide lock spring it wont Fly out, but it will fall out.

If you want to remove the magazine release, there is a spring that sits at the rear of the trigger guard;

Push the magazine release in part way & with the flat tip screwdriver lifts the up to remove it, once removed the magazine release will simply fall out.

THAT’S IT! We’re done, ready for the paint removal. Any paint stripper is fine.

KEEP IT WELL AWAY FROM THE PLASTIC PARTS!

Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for use of their product and thoroughly clean the slide and frame after you have removed the paint.

YOU WILL LOOSE ALL THE SIG Sauer MARKINGS ON THE GUN.

Rub over the slide and frame with #0000 Steel wool or 1200 grit Wet & Dry paper. Clean again and using the paper or steel wool with some ALUMINUM polishing compound like Autosol and some good ol fashioned elbow grease polish the slide and frame until you reach your desired outcome. Clean it all down again and wipe it down with a rag that has had gun oil or my preference “Fluid Film”.

Reassemble the gun in the reverse order and viola one shiny SIG Sauer X-Five.
