It's been a rather long time since I made an Airsoft Rifle Field Shooting Test video. I like to shoot a bit further out than 30 feet when using a rifle. Unfortunately the weather outside is getting really cold where I live so my testing will have to all be done inside the Replica Airguns Sea Can Airgun Range which only allows for about 30 feet worth of distance to my paper target. I figure if I can get a tight group at 30 feet than it shouldn't spread out too much at longer ranges!
Since the G&G ARP-9 and G&G ARP-556 have identical internals and similar barrel lengths I figured I only really needed to test one of them out so I picked the G&G ARP-556 AEG Airsoft CQB and put 5 shots through my Chrony Chronograph to get my Field Test Started. The G&G ARP-556 AEG Airsoft CQB shot a nice consistent 400 fps which is as high as I would want to go for indoor CQB type shooting. The BB's sure did get to my paper target quickly!
I followed my velocity testing with an accuracy test at 30 feet back using a rested shooting position, sand bag up front and sitting in the back. I first placed 10 rounds on my paper target in semi-auto and hit the 1.5 inch bullseye with every shot! I think this may have been a first for me using an Airsoft rifle? Of course I had to switch the G&G ARP-556 AEG Airsoft CQB over to full auto and see how she would perform. Since I was using an 11.2 volt bolt battery the rate of fire was crazy fast but even so in full-auto the bulk of the shots still hit the center bullseye cutting out a 2 inch hole in my paper target. The G&G ARP-556 AEG Airsoft CQB is a beast that I would not want to be on the receiving end of!
I'm pretty sure I found my go to AEG M4 styled CQB rifle, I'm not sure how you could beat the results I got shooting the G&G ARP-556 AEG Airsoft CQB. And if you're looking for a slightly lighter and less expensive version with the same performance then take a look at the G&G ARP-9 AEG Airsoft CQB.
I just received some really nice G& G Airsoft guns to share with everyone, I have two CQB Styled AEG rifles and a fantastic Gas Blowback Beretta Mod. 92FS.
The AEG CQB AR or M4 styled rifles are similar in a lot of ways and are super compact and really well built. The G&G ARP-9 has a polymer receiver and hand guard while the G&G ARP-556 has a full metal receiver and hand guard. Both have good weight to them. You will also find Skeletonized PDW stocks and large crown flash hiders on both models along with M-LOK hand guards. Inside you will find upgraded ETU and MOSFET electronics.
Obvious difference are the 9mm style magazine found on the G&G ARP-9 versus the M4 styled high capacity magazine on the G&G ARP-556. You also get an ambidextrous safety sector switch on the G&G ARP-556.
Next I show off the G&G GPM92 Beretta Mod. 92FS Gas Blowback Airsoft Pistol. It comes in a high quality hard plastic case with a well made speed loader. If you place the magazine in the gun you will have room for two magazine in the hard shell case. The G&G GPM92 hold 27 roads in it's double stack magazine that has some interesting new features that help it perform much beet in cold environments and really boost green gas usage. G& G calls them the Whirl Cylinder Valve system and Micro gas filter. Both help eliminate free up in the gun when shooting fast.
The G&G GPM92 Beretta Mod. 92FS is really well made and shoot in double and single action and the safety even works as a decocker. For those looking to add a mock suppressor you will happy to know the G&G GPM92 has a threaded barrel tip.

In this comparison video I look at a variety of different Beretta 92/Taurus PT92 Airguns and compare them to each other to determine which one I feel is the best Beretta/Taurus Airgun. Keep in mind what's best in for me may not be best for you.
I was originally planning on working out some of the magazine feeding issues with the Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun as other reviewers had mentioned that the steel 4.5mm BB's can jam up a bit in the magazine. The only thing I did with my Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun was to add a little bit of dry Jig-A-Loo lubricant to the magazine feeding track and make sure all my BB's where properly double stacked.. Other than that my Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun is stock with no magazine spring mods.
I did find that my RWS Zinc coated Steel 4.5mm BB's had a tendency to bind a little in the top part of the magazine where the BB's go from a double stack to a single stack configuration. Now my RWS 4.5mm BB's are a bit older and I have found that older Zinc and Copper coated steel BB's will corrode a little which could cause some friction problems.
So for my Shooting Field Test I selected some brand new Umarex Zinc Coated Steel BB's and they did seem to work a little better for me as I did not get any magazine feeding issues during my testing of the Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun. I did notice that when I did a magazine dump that the bolt cycle started to shorten up due to some cool down effect causing the bolt to lock, a quick 5 second break and she was good to go again to finish off the mag.
In terms of feet per second velocity Umarex claims around 450 fps for the Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun, this may be possible with brand new CO2 on a warm day but I got closer to a 400 fps 5 shot average under normal testing conditions, this is perfectly fine for a blowback BB airgun.
When I performed the accuracy test from my standard 30 foot out position on paper targets I got a very tight 1 inch group shooting in semi auto. just a light bit high and to the left but very close to the center bullseye. When I opened up and went full auto the group did largen a little since the Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun does rock a little back and forth with it's internal bolt blowback operation but the remaining 40 rounds did stay within the most part within a 2-3 inch grouping.
The Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun is a really sweet air riffle with a legendary look, blowback operation, semi and full auto capability, decent fps, great accuracy and at the end of the day is simply a ton of fun to shoot!

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun is single action only and even though I have seen it tested at around 10 pounds pull, in person it does not feel that heavy and is actually fairly smooth. You will need ti charge the bolt for the first shot just like you would on the real steel MP 40.
Accuracy: I have not done my official Field Test Shooting Video for the Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun but did take it outside for a quick test run. Like others have reported back you really need to take your time loading the double stack magazine properly or you can have some feeding issues. it may even be a good idea to use a little lubricant in the magazine to help with BB smoothness. I will know more after I ahed played around with the Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun a little more and worked out the BB feeding issues.
Build Quality: The Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun is pretty much all metal other than the stock and pistol grip. Pretty much everything that is black is going to be metal on this airgun. It weighs in at a hefty 7.7 pounds which is only a punt off form the real steel version. Overall the fit and finish is really good, all mechanical parts including the retractible stock work flawless.
Realism: The Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun is a 1 to 1 replica of the real steel German made World War II Machine Gun. It is very authentic looking and has very similar operation. The BB version does have the ability to shoot in semi auto mode which the real steel version did not but this is a good feature for saving on CO2 and BB's It would have been nice if the bolt was abel to lock all the way back and up but since the movement is shortened this is not possible. Still the Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun is a really nice replica and almost every way.
Great to have another full size Rifle / Machine Gun available to purchase in a BB gun version.

Comments: When I first got my hand on the Umarex Legends MP 40 Blowback CO2 BB Machine Gun at this years SHOT Show I immediately knew it was going to be a hit. The Umarex Legends MP has a lot going for it... High fps, semi and full auto, nostalgia of being a war replica and super great build quality and fit and finish. The questions is really who wouldn't want one? Especially being a replica BB rifle which has to be one of the more limited areas when it comes to airgun replicas. I look forward to shooting this offering from Umarex a little more and sharing my experiences with everyone.

What's not to love about the Umarex Legends MP 40 CO2 Blowback 4.5mm Steel BB Full Auto Machine Gun? It's pretty much all metal weighing in at close to 8 pounds, The Legends MP has a max fps of up to 465, shoots in both semi and full auto and has a high capacity all metal 52 round magazine that holds not only 1 CO2 but 2 CO2 for close to 200 rounds of semi auto shooting or about 140 shots in full auto. I really look forward to my Field Test Shooting Review of the Umarex Legends MP 40!
Not to be out shadowed or forgotten in the preview video, I also show off another 2017 SHOT Show CO2 Blowback Air Pistol, the Umarex Beretta APX! Right away the Umarex Beretta APX feels nice and solid in the hand weighing in at around 1.5 pounds with a heavy metal slide and really high quality plastic or polymer frame. You will find some nice details like a cut out ejection port and recessed barrel and of course full Beretta licensing from Umarex. The Umarex Beretta APX CO2 Blowback BB Pistol has a pretty decent claimed fps of close to 400 and a 20 round stick magazine that when inserted has that full size magazine look to it.
You'll also find other nice details like white dot sights front and back and a working slide catch release. My only gripe with the Beretta APX is the trigger, it does not ahed the trigger safety you would find on the real steel Beretta APX and the action is very long and perhaps a bit heavy. Other than that the Umarex Beretta APX looks to be a really nice replica airgun.
Another 4.5mm Steel BB Field Test Shooting Review from the new Sea Can Airgun Shipping Container Shooting Range. Yes it's a Crosman but it's really made by KWC and is based on the KWC Beretta / Taurus M92. Depending on which version you get, it came in either semi auto only or semi auto and full auto selectable. The Crosman version does shoot right out of the box in both semi and full auto which is nice.
On to my performance results with the Crosman PFAM98 Taurus PT-92 CO2 Blowback BB Pistol. My feet per second velocity results using a brand new CO2 in a 22-23 celcius environment where right up around 333 fps from a 5 shot string. This is about what we are use to from KWC full blowback CO2 BB Pistols.
Moving on to accuracy, I shot 10 rounds at my paper target which is setup about 30 feet away. I was also using a rested seated shooting position with my hands and gun resting on a sandbag upfront. I did have to reset this test as one of my cameras did not cooperate the first time around and this may have effected the accuracy juts a bit as velocity spread can make the BB's spread out a bit especially high and low on target. I did get a nice 5 shot group that was in a tight under one inch group but some of the other 4.5mm Steel BB's did shot higher and lower leaving the tighter grouping.
When I put the Crosman PFAM98 Taurus PT-92 CO2 Blowback BB Pistol in full auto mode and released the last 10 or so BB's they of course sprayed the target randomly. This was expected with the heavy blowback and fast shooting.
Well the Shipping Container Office and Airgun Shooting Range is finally all ready to use and so for this first ever airguns shooting video in it, I simply wanted to try out a couple of airguns and see how this new setup worked. I also wanted to play around with some camera position setup to see how it all looked and if there will be any additional lighting or placement considerations.

I got a lot done this week in the Shipping Container Project Office and Airgun Shooting Range. Finished up all the drywall office mudding, I primed and painted the the office, connected up all the electrical and office lighting and installed the hardwood and baseboard along with the trimming. All that's left in the office is some caulking, paint touchup and then I have to figure out how I'm going to finish up the shooting hole? I do have some ideas for it though...
Next week I will be working on these odds and ends and hopefully may even get the shooting range spray foam insulted?
About three weeks ago I started the interior construction of the Shipping Container Project. So far I have cut out the window and door, framed the office in, installed the window and door, done some preliminary painting, wired in electricity for the entire unit, added an internet line, run underground wiring to the main house, installed insulation and vapor barrier and last but not least, added the drywall. I would have to say the worst is over and now I look forward to more of the finishing work like painting, flooring, connecting the electrical plugs and lighting fixtures.
The only real big jobs left to do would be painting the outside of the Sea Can and spray foam insulating the shooting range area but the spray foaming I will be contracting out and getting it done professionally so that part will be easy at least!
Yup, another Shipping Container Project Update Video! For those of you interested in this project I am sure you have been waiting with baited breath ;) And for those wanting more airgun videos you are probably wondering when I will resume making more... Heck, I'm with you on that one, this manual labour stuff is way harder than making airgun videos, but it is all for the greater good. I will try and slip in some airgun related videos before this Shipping Container Project is finished, that's almost a promise!!!
At this point I am almost ready for drywall, all the electrical is completed including running the power and Internetunderground to the poorhouse and main house. I need to have my Internets at full jam, that's a must!
This week I will be getting the electirfcal all hooked up to the main box, adding isulation and vapour barrier, some more window baar cleanup and painting and by end of the week I hope to have the drywall in place along with the taping and first layer of mud.
Oh yah, this video also includes a huge bonfire, every spring and fall we usually burn all the fallen branches and yard debris, everyone comes out and enjoys the huge fire :)
The Shipping Container Project is moving along nicely, this past week I finished up my office area framing, I also got the door and window cutout and installed! Next up on my list is cleaning up and painting the window bars so I can make the unit a bit more secure. I suppose I will have to do the same with the metal door since it is in dire need of a facelift. Once the doors and windows are all taken care of I will be moving on to the electrical and wiring. My goal is to get all of this done by end of week... The sooner I get this Shipping Container Project done the sooner I can get back to making even better and more consistent airgun videos in my new home.
This week I started framing in my new office and in this video I show the wall closest to the airgun range where the door and shooting opening are situated. I managed to frame the back wall in too. I also talk about how much time it takes even before you pick up a drill or hammer simply planning everything out and acquiring all the supplies required for a project like this. I have spent a ton of time researching what I need to make this Shipping Container Project into the vision I have for it. Spoiler alert, in my next video the framing is all done including the installation of my window and outside door, glad that part is over!

Lately I have been doing a lot of sourcing out figuring out how everything is going to be laid out, what kind of lighting I want to use, how am I going to heat the office area in my shipping container. I want to keep everything pretty low power so my plan is to go with all LED lighting and a 400 Watt heater which should be
fine in my 90 square foot insulated office space. I plan to blast the shooting range with some propane heat on days when I need it for the shooting testing during the colder months.
I did pickup some hardwood flooring pretty cheap at Big Box Store and also got my 3x6 office window from Surrey New and Used. I already have metal doors that my father-in-law has had stashed away for several decades but at least now they are going to come in handy.
The first job or actual work I needed to do on the Shipping Container Project was to level and place the Sea Can onto some bricks/slabs, this also helps to keep the underside dry so it does not rust out. There shouldn't be much settling since the storage container is resting on my gravel parking area and the gravel goes right down about 1 foot deep to the hard pan.
Next on my list is starting the framing, figuring out exactly where the windows and doors will be and of course cutting the container to fit them.
This Vimeo video will be a little different than most, sorry no shooting and not even a single gun to show anywhere in this video! But it will lead to hopefully better shooting field test and table top videos down the road as I will have a dedicated space not only to work but to also shoot my review airguns.
Today, well actually yesterday a 40 foot shipping container (Sea Can) showed up at my house. This new metal box is going to be my airgun shooting range and office space combined. It will contain a 30 foot airgun shooting range closest to the rear doors so that I can open them and create a longer range if necessary. The front 10-12 feet of the container will be my work office space where. I will also use some of the container for storage.
Over the next few weeks I will be leveling the container, framing and insulating the office area, adding some electricity and lighting and of course completing some finishing work to the office space to make it more cozy. Eventually I hope to do some outside work giving the container some more curb appeal with a new coat of paint.
I plan to make more videos to share with everyone of the work progress as it happens so keep watching...
