This was an unusual Field Test Review for me to do as I really don’t test out Bows or Crossbows all that much and I don’t have the best backstop setup for doing such reviews. So I spent some time making a backstop that was capable of stopping these just over 6 inch almost 10 gram or 150 grain bolts. It required some layers of foam and cardboard along with a blanket behind just in case, and even with this setup the bolts managed to lodge themselves right up to the Fletching (feather part of the arrow). Also make sure to watch my Table Top Video Review for the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow to see it up nice and close and get all the specifications and features.

I kind of wanted to change up this review just a bit and so I recorded my Chronograph Velocity at the same time as I did my Target or Accuracy Test to simplify things. I used 5 bolts in all and got what I felt was a good result using the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow.

In terns of velocity Bear X claims that the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow will shoot around 175 fps. I was able to get consistent 190+ fps readings using the 147 grain 6.5 inch aluminum bolts with my lowest fps being 192 and the highest being 194 so super consistent. This gave an overall Foot Pound energy of 12.4 foot pounds! This is enough for small pests for sure, it really comes down to accuracy at this point as you will want to get either a head or shoulder area shot for a humane kill.

I did do a pre test to make sure I was on target and duding this test I was able to get about a 5 inch 5 shot grouping. During my recored Accuracy Test this did open up a bit as one arrow went high and to the right so if I leave that arrow out of the test I did manage to get another 5 inch grouping with three of the arrows all within 1.5 inches of each otter. I figure with high quality arrows and some practice time using the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow, you should be able to use it for small pest control at least at closer in ranges.

All in all the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow surprised me with how powerful it really was and with the accuracy using standard default bolts. This is for sure not a toy and you would never want to accidentally shoot this at someone as it could cause a very serious injury or even death and I mean that since these arrow would for sure pierce several inches into the body. Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow is medium to heavy, it is a single action only trigger as you need ot cock the bow in order for the trigger to be engaged. The safety is also engaged when you cock the bow requiring you to take the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow off safe before shooting as an added layer of safety.

Accuracy: I have not made my Field Test Shooting Video for the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow and so I have not sea what to expect for it. I have watched a few videos of other people reviewing it and it looks to perform fairly well but until I get a few bolts in a target downrange I can not say for certain the accuracy of the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow. I will have to figure out some sort of a usable back stop in order to make this Field Test Shooting Video but have some ideas already on material to use as my back stop. FPS is claimed ot be around 175 and I will be doing my best to Chronograph the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow so we can confirm that rating for ourselves…

Build Quality: The Bear X Desire XL Crossbow is actually made pretty decently, yes it is mostly plastic and light weight but feels sturdy enough to hold, the only real metal I can confirm is the cocking rail, mostly everything else other than the nuts and bolts that hold it together are some sort of plastic, the bow itself may be a composite material but I am not sure what exactly it is?

Realism: The Bear X Desire XL Crossbow is not a Replica as is what I usually review here on the channel. But I think their is a crossover in terms of interest for a product like this with people that are also interested in airguns. I know I like the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow and can see a place for it in my collection even if it’s not a replica product.

Comments:

The Bear X Desire XL Crossbow is an interesting product that once purchased and if you manage to not lose the bolts will cost virtually nothing to shoot since you can reuse the bolts all day long given you shoot them on target and that target does not damage the bolts. It may not offer the rapid fire action shooting of a replica semi auto CO2 Pistol but still challenges the shooter in terms of getting the best possible accuracy out of it and at the end of the day trigger time is trigger time! If you are looking for something a bit different than your CO2 Air Gun then maybe the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow will fill that requirement.

First up is the Umarex Ruger Mark IV Spring Piston Pellet Pistol which is a single shot replica pellet pistol that shoots .177 caliber pellets at up to 320 fps using a spring piston break barrel system. Next I take a look at a Gas Blowback Airsoft Pistol from Action Army that closely resembles the Ruger Mark IV pistol with perhaps a more compact look. It also come with a threaded barrel and barrel extension for adding a longer barrel and much suppressor.

Next on my list of new items is the Bear X Desire XL Crossbow which is a 2.2 pound compact bolt shooting crossbow that sports a rail system with included adjustable iron sights that also allow for a red dot if you want to really customize it. The Bear X Desire XL Crossbow has a 60 pound draw and shoots arrows/bolts at up to 175 fps.

Another AR BB Rifle/Pistol from Crosman is the Crosman A4-P Full Auto CO2 BB Pistol which is essentially a pistol version of the AR Platform. If you like the Crosman DPMS SBR, R1, PDW then you will probably also like the Crosman AP-4. Like the others it uses dual CO2’s and shoots 4.5mm Steel BB;s in semi or full auto at 1400 rounds per minute until the 25 round magazine is empty.

Last included in this preview video is the Air Venturi Avenger Regulated PCP Pellet Rifle. I’m a bit uncertain about this one as I am pretty sure it is the non detuned PAL version that requires a firearms license here in Canada as it shoots at full velocity (.22 caliber pellet at 950 fps). If that’s the case then it will not be available in our Canada Replica Airguns Store but may be available in the US Replica Airguns Store. If it is the detuned version or a detuned version becomes available in Canada then I imagine we will at some point have it in the Canada replica Airguns Store. That said the Air Venturi Avenger Regulated PCP Pellet Rifle uses compressed air and shoots either .177. .22 or .25 caliber pellets using a latch system and rotary magazine.

After about 4 years or so of not getting sick at all, I was almost starting to think I was impervious to viruses and colds and flues and then it finally happened… I got the Rona.

Now I am not 100% sure if it is the Rona since I have not been tested yet but all signs indicate it’s probably Omicron. I have ordered some antibody tests that I expect to come in shortly, I will be checking my blood for Covid-19 Antibodies once I know my body has had enough time to make them after getting sick this time.

In this video I talk about my symptoms and how I felt start to finish getting the Rona. I can say at least for me it was not big deal, the soar throat was probably the worst of it for me.

In this Field Test Shooting Video I put the ASG Steyr Arms Scout Bolt Action Spring Airsoft Rifle through the regular Replica Airguns Indoor Field Test by first testing out the velocity and placing several rounds through my Chronograph to see what the actual fps is using both .20 gram and .40 gram Airsoft BB’s. Then I setup a fresh paper target 30 feet downrange and place 10 rounds into it to see how tight of a grouping I can get. If you have not already watched my Table Top Video for this Sniper Airsoft Riffle, then make sure to do so for more details, specifications and close up video.

Starting off with my real world velocity test for the ASG Steyr Arms Scout Bolt Action Spring Airsoft Rifle I decided to use both .20 and .40 gram Airsoft BB’s to see what a difference of double the weigth form the claimed for would actually be since for the most art this Airsoft Sniper Rifle is really meant to be using heavier Airsoft BB’ closer to the .40 gram weight. I was kind of expecting the heavier .40 gram BB’s to shoot almost half as fast since they where double the weight bu this was not the case! I shot 5 rounds with each weight Airsoft BB and with the .20 gram I averaged 479 which was actually faster than claimed, When I switched up to the .40 gram Airsoft BB’s I was surprised to get an average of 373 so only around 100 fps slower!

Moving on to the accuracy portion of my Indoor Field Test here in the Replica Airguns Sea Can, as always I placed a fresh paper target 30 feet downrange and proceeded to shoot 10 .40 gram Airsoft rounds into it from a rested and seated shooting position to allow for best possible results with as little human error added in. I was using a 4x optical scope since the ASG Steyr Arms Scout Bolt Action Spring Airsoft Rifle has a the added rail on top just fo this purpose and I would imaging most people are going to want to add a magnified scope to this Airsoft Sniper Rifle rather than use the built in pop iron sights that by the way are not adjustable. I know 30 feet is not the range one would be shooting this rifle at but it’s all I have for an indoor shooting range and it will give us an idea of what we can expect shooting further out… as in a nice tight group at 30 feet is going to mean better accuracy than a spread out grouping art 30 feet. I will say the ASG Steyr Arms Scout Bolt Action Spring Airsoft Rifle probably got one of the best groupings for an Airsoft Rifle that I have tested at 30 feet placing all 10 rounds within about an inch to an inch an a half.

I would like to take this Airsoft Sniper Rifle outside and see what it can do at much further out ranges again using nice and heavy Airsoft BB’s when it gets a bit warmer and stops raining so much :) But for now my Indoor Field Test performed about as good of a result as I can expect. The ASG Steyr Arms Scout Bolt Action Spring Airsoft Rifle is a really well made which paid off in two it performed for me. I don’t really see any need to upgrade this Airsoft Sniper Rifle other than adding an optical scope and perhaps investing in some high quality Airsoft Ammo.

In this Vimeo Video Field Test Review I test out the Umarex Fusion 2 CO2 .177 Caliber Bolt Action Pellet Rifle in the indoor Replica Airguns Shooting Range to see how accurate it is and what kind fo velocity we can expect from it.

Starting with the velocity test I averaged out 8 rounds through my chronograph using 8.18 grain lead pellets using the dual 12 gram CO2 setup and I was able to average 445 fps which is not bad as these are mid grain weight pellets, lighter weight pellets would for sure get closer to the 490 fps claimed by Umarex. The temperate was about average room temp so not overly cold or warm.

Moving on to the accuracy test I placed all 9 rounds from the rotary magazine into a fresh paper target setup 30 feet away. I use a reseted seated position in the back with the Umarex Fusion 2 CO2 .177 Caliber Bolt Action Pellet Rifle resting on a sand bag up front and I was using the 4 power scope for this test which I setup earlier. My final result was for sure an under one half inch grouping, I did feel like I pulled one shot a little bit but I am sure this Airgun can get quarter inch groupings at 30 feet and I would expect half inch groupings at 50 feet so perfect for mid range small pest shooting.

Umarex does adversities this Air rifle as being very quiet but in Canada we are not allowed to have any type of suppressor even on airguns so I believe this Canada version has been disabled in that regard but the Umarex Fusion 2 CO2 .177 Caliber Bolt Action Pellet Rifle is fairly quiet for sure with its long barrel and slightly lower fps than the US version. Overall the Umarex Fusion 2 CO2 .177 Caliber Bolt Action Pellet Rifle is a lot of bang for the buck with the added 4x scope, included magazines that hold 9 rounds each and the ability to use either a dual 12 gram or single 88 gram CO2 setup. It also looks really cool and performs just as good!

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on Umarex Fusion 2 CO2 .177 Caliber Bolt Action Pellet Rifle feels pretty good, it is fairly short and light having a claimed 3.5 pound release which is believable. You will need to obviously work the bolt for each shot that precooks the internal hammer/striker allowing for the short and light trigger.

Accuracy: I have not performed my Field Test Shooting Video for the Umarex Fusion 2 CO2 .177 Caliber Bolt Action Pellet Rifle so stay posted for that. Umarex has claimed a velocity of around 490 FPS for the Canada version I will be testing, the US version has a claimed velocity of up to 700 for those in the US purchasing this Rifle. I am sure the included 4x32 optical scope once setup will help in the accuracy department when I test this CO2 Air Rifle out on a paper target setup 30 feet down range.

Build Quality: The Umarex Fusion 2 CO2 .177 Caliber Bolt Action Pellet Rifle is a fairly low cost target pellet Rifle when you consider it comes with a decent optical scope along with two 9 round magazines but even so the build quality seems very solid coming in at 6.5 pounds. The stock is plastic of course but there is lots of metal where you want it to be as in the bolt, trigger, safety and most other mechanical parts.

Realism: The Umarex Fusion 2 CO2 .177 Caliber Bolt Action Pellet Rifle is not a replace of any gun I know of but does sport a very modern ergonomic look with its pistol grip and molded full stock. I like the built in picatinny rail which even though it does not offer any type of open sight configuration will allow for a variety of scope mounting options for near or far shooting.

I am looking forward to performing my Indoor Field Test Shooting Video for the Umarex Fusion 2 CO2 .177 Caliber Bolt Action Pellet Rifle to see if it performs as good as it looks. I’ll probably use the duel 12 gram configuration for this test since I don’t plan on shooting 300 rounds with it for my testing. We should also find out if the SilencAir technology has been disabled or not with my Canada version but even so, a 500 fps Air Refile is not going to be all that loud either way at the end of the day. There are not a lot of Bolt Action multi shot pellet Air Rifles out there especially in this price range so I am really hoping it hits a home run when I test it so stay posted for that video…

As with most of the new tech I purchase or acquire that I will be using in my Videos for either my GetFitOver40 or ReplicaAirguns YouTube channels, I generally like to do some sort of a practical review for the item. In this case I take a look at the Synco G1 (A2) Wireless Microphone Set which is a pair of wireless transmitters that pair with a single dedicated receiver allowing me to quickly and easily capture good quality audio for my Videos.

For the past couple of years my go to microphone setup for my video was to use a generic lapel mic connected to my Samsung Galaxy Smartphone recording into an audio program. I would then send the audio file via dropbox to my computer where I would then line up the audio file with the video file in my video editing software to get a much higher quality and more clear voice recording versus what the camera mic would be able to capture.

This system has been working fairly well for me but required a somewhat cumbersome lapel cable and of course my bulky Smartphone in my pocket at all times but did allow me to be as far away from the camera as I wanted without any interference or loss of audio clarity.

After playing around with the Synco G1 (A2) Wireless Microphone System I have determined I will most likely simply be clipping the transmitter onto my shirt without the lavaliere mic plugged in and transmitting the audio into either my Samsung Smartphone or my iPad where I can then again dropbox the audio file to wherever I plan on editing the video.

This video was kind of a test to see how everything sounded in terms of the lapel mic versus the built in mic. What settings to use and how distance effected the audio signal and quality. Unfortunately the lapel mic was a bit close to my voice causing some distortion to occur but you can still hear what I am saying no problem. In the future I would place the lapel mic a bit further away from my voice lower down on my shirt or simply use the built in mic as it was not as sensitive to this distortion and seemed to handle louder volume much better than the lapel mic.

I made a video a little bit ago talking about how Canada’s new Bill C-21 will affect pretty every gun owner in Canada including even airgun owners of BB, Pellet Airsoft and even Paintball Guns. Make sure to watch that video first called Bill C-21 Canada is Going After Your Red Ryder BB Gun.

This video is all about how you can get involved in making some waves by signing two online petitions along with contacting your local Member of Parliament and letting them know your disapproval of Bill C-21 and all that it imposes on law abiding Canadian gun owners.

Probably the most important online petition to sign would be the House of Commons Petition E-3201 Bill C-21 so make sure to sign that one!

The other online e-petition we need to sign is the change.org petition.

And lastly but also super important is to send an email to your local member of Parliament again let them know your disapproval of Bill C-21. I have included a link to the web[age where you can locate your local MP and below that is a template of what you could include in your email to them.

In this YouTube Video I test out my new Insta360 One R with the 1 Inch Mod, comparing it to my Sony RX 100 IV to see how they compare against each other.

It’s not really a fair comparison since my Sony RX 100 IV is now 5 or 6 years old which is a long time for a digital camera but it has been really good to me and provided some really great quality video over the years. Compare that to the Insta360 One R that is about a year on the market now and you would think the clear winner would be the Insta360 One R.

On it’s own the Insta360 One R with the standard 4k lens would perform well against the Sony RX 100 IV but the Sony RX 100 IV has a 1 inch sensor allowing it to get the most out of each pixel and since I primarily shoot in 1080p 60 frames per second I need to get as much out of each pixel as I can.

One really great feature about the Insta360 One R is that it is modular so I can swap the 4k module out for a 5.7 k 360 module or even a 1 inch 5.3k module allowing both the Insta360 One R and the Sony RX 100 IV to have that large 1 inch sensor keeping the comparison more inline with each other.

Some things to not that will make a big difference in quality and limitations for this video is that the Insta360 One R 1 Inch Mod was shot using 4k 60 fps while the Sony RX 100 IV was shot using 1080p 60fps. The Insta360 One R 1 Inch Mod has a fixed focus while the Sony RX 100 IV has a variable focus.

Anyway I will let you be the judge and decide which camera you like the look of the video for at least in this shooting situation.

Without the cool cameras there would be no cool Airgun videos and so when a company reached out to me and says… Hey, would you like to try out one of our new 4K Action cameras? I say sure! I can always use another high quality 4K camera for even more angles and who knows what else…

In this unboxing video I take a look at the SJCAM SJ10 Pro Action Camera to see what’s in the box obviously, what it looks like and what my first impressions of the SJCAM SJ10 Pro Action Camera are. I have to say the build quality is a lot better than I thought it was going to be, I’m pretty sure the main body is made out of metal and the crips looking lcd screen pretty much takes up the entire back of the camera. The camera is a lot smaller than I was expecting too which is a good thing since the more compact a camera is, the more likely I will be taking it along with me and using it.

The following product review for the Comica WS60 UHF Dual Mini Wireless Microphone Combo has nothing to do with Replica Airguns but as a YouTuber with a couple of YouTube channels, I have to make sure I not only have good quality video but also good quality audio when I make a YouTube Video for one of my channels.

After all if it sounds like I’m in a wind tunnel or the bat cave and you can not hear clearly what I’m saying then it can be very distracting for you the viewer to understand what I ‘m trying to share with you!

Perhaps you can also utilize a product like the Comica WS60 UHF Dual Mini Wireless Microphone Combo for your audio and video needs, which could also be for something social media related or even just for your own personal use to get the best quality home video and audio.

For the last couple of years I have been using a lapel mic more and more in my videos and I try to use one whenever possible since the audio is just so much better than the Microphone audio built into the camera. It's not that the camera mics are really all that bad, the problem is that most of the time the camera is simply not close enough to the person speaking so you tend to get a lot of background and room noise which makes the speaking audio sound distant with noticeable ambient noise and echo.

Generally I have been using a wired lapel mic that I record directly into my SmartPhone, which I place in my pocket while recording. I use a different camera to record my vide, I then sync the audio to the video in post production on my computer but this requires a bit of audio and video software know how. The advantage to a wireless setup is that you can record directly into the camera if it supports an audio input meaning no more requirements to sycn audio later and no long cord bwteen the audio source and the camera. A wireless setup usually is more compact and versatile. What I like about the Comica WS60 UHF Dual Mini Wireless Microphone Combo is the fact that it comes with two lapel mics that both have their own transmitter so they can be worn independently by two separate people, perfect for conducting interviews or even when you simply need a mic in more than one location.

I then test it out and record audio so you can hear for yourself what it sounds like. I first test it plugged into my SmartPhone like I normally do and then I pug it into my DJI Osmo Pocket for a second reference test. Starting with Sig Sauer, they sent me their brand new Sig Sauer P365 CO2 Blowback BB Pistol. This was probably one of my favorite new Air Pistols at SHOT Show simply because it is so small and somehow Sig was able to find a way to put a full size drop out metal magazine that holds both the CO2 and BB’s in it. This is one I am really looking forward to testing out in the Indoor Sea Can Airgun Shooting Range.

Another fantastic product is Crosman’s DPMS Full Auto CO2 BB Rifle which was pretty much perfect the first time around. Well at SHOT Show this year Crosman updated it a bit mainly with some cosmetic changes and now is offering the Crosman MPW, a slightly shorter version of the DPMS and now with an AR Compatible Stock for customizing your Crosman’s MPW Full Auto CO2 BB Rifle.

Yet one more item I was drooling over at SHOT Show 2019 where the Air Venturi Springfield Arms XDM Air Pistols being offered in GBB Airsoft and CO2 BB models along with 3.8 and 4.5 inch versions. It looks like the GBB Airsoft venisons where first out of the factory and I was able to get them in two styles, the Air Venturi Springfield Arms XDM 3.8 GBB Airsoft and Air Venturi Springfield Arms XDM 4.5 GBB Airsoft.

So maybe not as exciting… I also take a look at a NBB CO2 BB Makarov from KWC that is pretty basic but is much less expensive and will offer higher FPS and more shots per CO2 being that it is Non-blowback Airgun. It will be interesting to see how it compares performance wise to the KWC Full Blowback CO2 BB version.

Last but also super cool and I know it’s not really as Airgun related but still something I think everyone will be interested in is the Pocket Shot Pro Arrow Pouch with D-Loop. I reviewed the Pocket Shot “Slingshot” a while back, this new product allows you to use standard Arrows with their new Arrow Pouch getting around 40 pounds of pull and it comes with a trigger release. By the way the Pocket Shot Pro Arrow system is legals to hunt deer with in most US States, I’m not sure about Canada but perhaps here too?

It’s been long time coming but here is the last bit of my journey to get my 1993 Ducati 750 Super Sport licensed and on the road! I know not everyone is going to be interested in a motorcycle video since this is an Airgun channel but a lot of people did mention to me that they wanted to know more about my Ducati and how it was all going. Besides even if you have never owned a motorbike they are super cool to look at and listen to :)

In this “Getting the 1993 Ducati 750 Super Sport on the Road” YouTube video I go through the final process I need to do to get my Ducati 750ss registered and licensed for road use. This final step requires me to get BC Vehicle Inspection done where an authorized mechanic inspects the vehicle to make sure it complies to all the road use standard in place here in Canada BC.

You may be asking why a Airgun channel is doing a review of a hand-held microphone. Well part of making good video is also making sure you also record great sounding audio! It doesn't matter how Hi-Def the video is, if you can't hear what I'm saying because the audio is all muffled or drowned out by background sounds then you aren't getting much out of the video.
