This may the one of the most Airguns I have tested out at the same time here in the Replica Airguns Indoor Shooting Range. It took a little bit longer than normal but I go through it with only one of the CO2 Blowback BB Pistols acting up juts a bit at the beginning. After a quick fix the rest of the show went on the road you could say!
What exactly was the purpose of testing out 5 CO2 Blowback BB Pistols all together? I wanted to compare my most compact CO2 Blowback BB Pistols to each other to see which one performed the best in my Chronograph Velocity Test and 30 foot 10 Round Target Test. There was no definitive clear winner at the end of the day two of the Air Pistols performed almost the same and then the rest kind of lingered behind them to lesser degrees.

After my Umarex Walther PPK/S Revisit Videos several people commented about comparing the Umarex Walther PPK/S to some more similar Compact Blowback Airguns other than the KWC Makarov PM. The Sig Sauer 936 came up a few times and so I figured I would see what I could find in terms of some other compact CO2 Blowback BB Pistols.
In this video I take a look at them all and go over some basic specs and design features for each Blowback CO2 BB Pistol. I will be following this table top compassion with an Indoor Field Test Shooting Comparison for each of these Air Pistols.
I have already reviewed the previous version of the Walther PPS which performed pretty good during my field test shooting video. It shot right around 370 fps which was just a tad faster than the claimed 360 fps. I was also able to place 10 rounds within a 3.5 inch grouping during my Field Test which is about what I was expecting from this rather small shirt barreled BB pistol.
Did the Umarex Walther PPS M2 Blowback CO2 BB Pistol out shoot the previous Umarex Walther PPS Blowback CO2 BB? The new Umarex Walther PPS M2 Blowback CO2 BB Pistol has a claimed fps of 340 which is not super fast but keep in mind it is a very short barreled blowback BB pistol. Like the original Umarex Walther PPS during my Chronograph velocity testing my sample model averaged about 10fps faster with a 5 shot average of 352 fps. Not bad at all for such a short barreled BB pistol. I know some people think you need 400 plus fps in an airgun but the reality is anything even close to 300 fps is moving pretty fast and can still do a lot of damage to pop cans and skin.
When it came to accuracy I found my Walther PPS M2 Blowback CO2 BB Pistol shot a little bit to the left, one round even missed the paper target so it was for sure pulling to the left and I know it was not me. Unfortunately the sights are non adjustable which is pretty normal for most BB pistols so if yours pulls in one direction or the other than you will need to adjust your aim point to accommodate it. My 10 shot grouping was similar to the standard Walther PPS M2 Blowback CO2 BB Pistol getting all 10 shots within 3.5 inches
I found the blowback on the Walther PPS M2 CO2 BB Pistol nice and snappy with enough recoil feel to make it fun to shoot. The trigger pull is slightly long but pretty smooth even when it is picking up a BB and placing it in the chamber. The white dot sights are nice and easy to see and overall the Walther PPS M2 Blowback CO2 BB Pistol is a great compact action shooter perfect for taking out pop cans from 20-30 feet!

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Walther PPS M2 Blowback CO2 BB Pistol is single action only so you will need to rack the slide before you can fire off the first shot. The trigger reset does not change even when cocked so there is a fair amount of take-up but it is very light right up until the release where you then feel the actual trigger pull. The release weight is fairly light.
Build Quality: TheUmarex Walther PPS M2 Blowback CO2 BB Pistol is not super heavy but because of its small size it does feel solid in the hand. Fit and finish are both good and you will find metal parts in all the right places like the slide, trigger, barrel, magazine, slide catch release and lost of other metal parts internally.
Realism: The Umarex Walther PPS M2 Blowback CO2 BB Pistol is a really good replica when compared to the real steel version. For the most part it is really hard to tell them apart just looking at them. One difference is the trigger, you will find a trigger safety on the real steel version versus no trigger safety on the BB firing airgun. I am not talking about the cross bolt safety here as this is also unique to the Airgun version and not on the real still pistol. Available From: The Replica Airguns Store.

Easy to use and see white dot sights front and back.

Smart built in Allen key/spring system.
Stick mag but the butt plate hides the CO2 screw nicely.

Expect decent blowback feel since it has a heavier slide spring than the previous PPS and that version even had decent blowback recoil for its size.

I like the format of these small compact conceal cary gun like the ASG Bersa BP9CC, of course the first generation Umarex Walther PPS Blowback and now the new Umarex Walther PPS M2. Small sized compact guns like the Umarex Walther PPS M2 here in Canada are considered Prohibited making them off limits for most Canadians even with valid Restricted handgun licenses so the BB firing version many be as close as you are going to get to owning a prohibited pistol here in Canada. I look forward to putting the Umarex Walther PPS M2 Blowback CO2 BB Pistol though its paces when I do my official Field Test Shooting video here in the Airgun Sea Can Shooting Range.
All three licensed guns are really great, you already know my thoughts on the Umarex Glock 19 CO2 BB Pistol since I have previously made bunch of videos on it already. I also have reviews for the Umarex Walther PPS but not the M2 version which is the one that came in my care package. The new Umarex Walther PPS M2 is a much more modern and smoothed out version of the PPS. The standard PPS kind of looks a bit like a flattened out Walther CP99 While the Umarex Walther PPS M2 is a lot more unique.
I do have to say I really like the new fully licensed Umarex HK USP Blowback version, Umarex has had their non blowback HK USP out for a long time but it is pretty basic with no blowback or working slide but it does look the part and shoots pretty good. The new Umarex HK USP Blowback CO2 BB Pistol has everything we like in a replica Airgun: Full blowback operation, a full sized all metal drop out magazine that holds the CO2 and Steel BB's. Metal parts where you would expect them like the slide, hammer, trigger, magazine release, magazine, slide catch release and even the removable sights. Of course there are lots internal metal parts too like the barrel, springs and pins.

In this Field Test Shooting Video I do my traditional Chronograph test where I shoot five 4.5mm Steel BB's using a brand new CO2 cartridge to see what kind of real word Feet Per Second performance we get out of the Umarex Walther PPS. On this day I averages right around 370 fps which is not bad considering it is claimed to have 360 fps. The temperature was right around 24 Celsius or 75 Fahrenheit so it was neither cold or hot.
Moving on with the Accuracy Shooting Test, I set myself up 30 feet away using a semi-rested stance (Sand bag up front, standing in the back) I did not get my best grouping in this test, with my 10 shot group spreading out to almost 3.5 inches. During my previous pretest, I was able to shoot a tighter 2 inch group with 10 well placed shots using the Umarex Walther PPS.
Even with my less then best results in the accuracy department, I still love this pistol, it has a reasonable trigger with a nice snappy blowback that is a bit surprising from such a tiny BB pistol, FPS is also good considering its size and I know this gun is able to shoot much tighter than I performed during this test.

Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Walther PPS is pretty good overall. This pistol mechanically is very similar to the ASG Bersa BP9CC so it shares a similar trigger system that picks up a BB during the first part of the trigger pull allowing the BB to enter the barrel and then on the second part of the trigger pull the internal hammer is released. The hammer is set in the cocked position from the blowback action so the actual trigger pull is fairly light. You can feel a bit of friction when the BB is being moved into the barrel but it is not drastic. Overall trigger pull length is about medium with a very predictable release point.
Accuracy: I did my pre-test of the Umarex Walther PPS CO2 Blowback BB Pistol from 30 feet back shooting at a paper target using a semi rested position (sand bag up front and standing in the back). My 10 shot grouping was just a bit below the center bulls eye and very well centered left and right All 10 BB's stayed within 2 inches with a nice even spread. The Umarex Walther PPS also shot right around the 360 fps range on this not so warm spring day so I would expect it to hit significantly higher than the claimed 350 fps on hot summer days.
Build Quality: The Umarex Walther PPS for it's rather low retail price is very good quality, again comparable to the ASG Bersa BP9CC since I believe both guns are made in the same factory. Fit is very good, everything works well and the slide has next to no wobble, I especially like the way the allen key is built into the CO2 hatch which allows for no need to a CO2 tab to have to accommodate with a bulkier but plate. The finish is also very nice, I did not see any wear mark appear with use and the plastic used in the frame seems to be very high quality.
Realism: The Umarex Walther PPS BB Pistol is a fully licensed replica of the real steel Walther PPS compact cary pistol. It is an extremely close copy in both looks and feel, has a nice snappy blowback action and has a working slide catch release that hold back when the magazine is empty. The slide movement is shorter than expected but this does allow for better power and CO2 usage, it also would have been nice to have a full size drop out magazine but the stick magazine with it's full size but plate does a nice job of still making this replica Airgun look very believable.
Well priced for what you get in our Canada Store, less cost than the ASG Bersa BP9CC.

I really liked the ASG Bersa BP9CC when I review it because it was such a well rounded gun in a very compact and well built design. The Umarex Walther PPS perhaps exceeds the Bersa BP9CC since it is even more compact, seems to have a bit more blowback recoil while still retaining decent fps and accuracy, and the Umarex PPS has a superior design when it comes to the built in allen key for tightening the CO2. You even get all of this for less cost then the ASG BErsa BP9CC. Don't get me wrong, I would not be without either gun, but if I could only have one it would be the Umarex Walther PPS.

The Umarex Walther PPS is a full licensed CO2 BB Blowback replica of the real steel super compact Walther PPS and it compares well to the ASG Bersa BP9CC that I reviewed earlier and by the way ended up being one of my favorite compact air pistols. That said I think the Umarex Walther PPS is the new king! It is even more compact yet has great fps for a super small CO2 pistol, shot very accurate even from 30 feet out and has more blowback recoil than the larger Bersa BP9CC!

Umarex added another shell loading revolver to their collection, the fully licensed Colt Python 357 and again this revolver uses CO2 and shoots 4.5mm Steel BB's that are preloaded into 6 included brass shells. Out of all the 4.5mm shell loading revolvers to date, I have to say the Colt Python 357 is the heaviest coming in at just under 3 pounds. The trigger hammer combination is also very smooth and it has a fully adjustable rear sight for windage and elevation.
